Default Cracking Noise from roof

I have been hearing cracking noises from the roof of my 2000 RX300. It seems to come from near the moonroof, and the side posts front and rear. It mainly happens when driving with the AC guessing the temp change in the cabin might cause some of the plastic to crack and when hitting bumps at times. Its to the point where its annoying and embarressing.
Anyone else have this problem or come across it. Are there any TSB's that might be a fix for this and can you direct me to a page or site? Also my RX is at 52k miles and over the 4yr 50k warrenty do you know if the dealer will still work a TSB or will they charge??

I have a 2001 RX300. And I had the same clicking noise. I found that the insulation around the sunroof was making the noise. It was intermittant. And muffled when the cover was pulled forward. It wouldnt start untill you were in motion for about 10 or 15 minutes. Its caused by the tepmerature difference from the outside and the airconditioning. It sounds like a relay clicking on and off. You can duplicate it by pushing on the sunroof from the inside.

I never found this problem listed under any TSB. But the Lexus Dealer here in Miami knew all about it when I took it in. They insulate the lining of the sunroof. On the top of the RX300 Forum on this web page. There is a listing of TSB,s for all Lexus models.. Like this one.

Default The power of the search engine!

Using the "Advanced Search" at the top of the page for popping noise on the RX330/300 forum, I came up with several previous discussions, the best of which you can find here.

Hope this helps!

Default Clicking Noise

My 2001 is still under warranty. So im not sure if they would do the work. From what ive read on this web page. The service you get depends upon the dealer. So go overboard with help. And some just do the minimum. I would ask and see what happens. Worst thing that can happen is they tell you how much the repair will be.
