The RX300 service manual (pages DI-170-171) says the transmission capacity is 3.7 quarts (w/o cooler?) and 4.3 quarts (w/ cooler?). Like I said previously, I haven't actually drained/refilled myself. I figured they were stating total capacity, not just what you change by a drain/refill. (You get the trans cooler with the towing package).

I agree with you about the flush and the drain-and-fill. I have been flushing every 30K, and doing the drain and fill on the 15K. Excellent performance. The last Lexus dealership I went to DID FLUSHES. My fluid was also silvery/powdery and performance improved big time after the flush and that was over 10K miles ago.

For the 60k or greater fluid change fans and non belivers...here's some proof w/DIY info on what a typical fluid change involves..and an approximation of how much fluid is left from just a simple drain/refill. Sure it's not the tranny in the RX, but it should provide insight.
