noises sound from the dashboard
Hello, I have an RX 300 (2001 47000 miles) and lately I hear noises emanating from the dashboard everytime the car is on. It sounds like when the CD Changer switches between CDs. I remove the cartridge form the player, but the sound still persist.
I am starting to believe that it has to do with the AC system and one of the dampers is failing. Does anyone experience something similar. I have not gone to the dealer yet because I wanted to see if this is a common failure.
Thanks

Dashboard Noises
I have a 2001 RX300. And I have the craziest noise coming from behind the glovebox. Its always there. But changes frequency. Its always on even with the AC off. The best way I can describe it. Its like the sound you would hear from a kids hamster cage. And the round wheel is moving. Its going back to Lexus this week for this and some other work. Will see what happens.

I hate to tell you all, but it is a typical Toyota product regardless if it has the luxury name LEXUS on it or not. We have owned three Toyota's.....Camry, two different Avalon's plus two Lexus vehicles and they all take top honors for rattles. I owned several Ford's over the years and NONE of them rattled, especially as bad as Toyota's and Lexus.

Remove everything from your glove box and see what happens. There were a couple of times that I thought that I heard some rattles. Always traced down to other stuff in the vehicle. Remove or re-arrange the offending object and the noise goes away.

I guess everybody has different experience. The RX300 is my first vehicle that doesn't rattle. It's silent like a bank vault, even on washboard dirt roads. All my previous vehicles from the Detroit 3 all had rattles. GM took the top honor with a dashboard sounding like a sledgehammer when bitter cold.

Dashboard noise
My noise sound is like a running motor. Coming from behind the glovebox. With the car parked and running. With the stereo and A/C off. You can hear it running. It speeds up. Then slows down Then back up. Im taking it in this week for this and other work. Will see what happens.

I've had the noise heard for a while. They come from the 3 servos that control the ventilation system, the air mix, recirculation, and mode. They seem to have their own mind even when the system is not in use. I think the motors are fine, but the "whatever" controls them is going crazy.

AT approximately 38k miles on our 2002, i also hear the noises from the passenger side of the dashboard also while driving. It drives me nuts, i hope my dad tells the dealership about this and hopefully it'll get resolved. I thought strange noises were something to never expect from a product like this.
