ECU Reset
I know that this is an old question. But I had ask. My daughter left the gas cap loose. And my RX300 had the check engine light come on. So I went to reset the ECU. On my 2001 it has 7.5 amp fuse for the ECU-B. And a 20 amp on the EFI. In the threads I have read. It always says to pull the 20 amp ECU fuse. I went ahead and pulled them both. And everythings ok. Didnt realize the amount of change in accelereation was going to be that different. Anyways is it the EFI or ECU fuse that everyone pulls?

positive or negative terminal?...and time?
does it matter if you unhook the positive or negative terminal to reset the ecu?...either way, how long is recommended?...other than feeling performance, is there a way to know it's been reset?...i unhooked the terminal and let my 99 rx300 sit for an hour or so after i replaced an air/fuel ratio sensor in the manifold...while i had to reset the radio, etc - the car actually seems to be getting worse mpg than before the sensor problem...a couple mpg different...any help/advice welcome...thx...R

ECU Fuse Reset
I pull the EFI Fuse everytime I get gas. Which is every 4 or 5 days. So I dont notice a change in in gas mileage. The reason I reset the ECU is for acceleration.
When my daughter puts gas in the car. She forgets to reset the fuse. After a week or so. You can feel the difference. I will pull out into traffic. And step on the gas. And the car will just hang. And slowly build up speed. Which is ok sometimes. But where I live. Its right on the highway. So you need to get going.
To make the job easier. I applied a small piece of tape to the fuse. So it has a little tab to grab on to. And it is easier to find.

Ah yes KeysRx300 right on US1. My family and I used to have a place down in Key Largo on the Gulf side.
rhack1...actually will not make a difference if you pull the negative and/or positive (have done it many times myself).
Keep in mind that the ECU is reseting itself for how your drive. If you start giving it more gas on the pedal it will alter your MPG...after a while it will eventually get back to normal

Thats the place. I live at MM100 behind the Shell Gas Station on the ocean side. And I work up in Homestead. They are finally getting rid of the draw bridge at MM 108. And wideing the stretch.

I used to live at the intersection of Florida and Lake Shore Drives. I understand they have done a lot of development at that point and the houses are spreading around where we used to be. I remember they had a mangrove sanctuary there.
BTW, do you take the Card Sound Road or US1 to get up to Homestead? I used to like Alabama Jacks. I can also remember going to the Italian Fisherman where the birds and fish would scamper for any bread the kids would throw up or into the water.

I take US 1 unless its a bad time. You know. Driving south on a Saturday Morning. Driving north on a Sunday evening. That is the biggest problem I have living here. If you want to go to Miami on a Saturday. You have to stay out all day. And come back late.
Alabama Jacks is still there. I only go there when family or friends are in town. They have closed alot of the marinas around here. And are building condos in their place. Even Holiday Isle is going condo.
