Judging by the quitness of the LS you would think that the RX will be quite too....
Don't have the precise decible value, but definitely, the new ML350 is much quieter than our older RX300, especially wind noise wise of 70+ mph. Reliability aside, the new ML is by far a much better ride in term of handling & comfort over the new RX330 (we have test driven them all) ... my 2 cents.

I had replaced speed idle control($400), battery. I just spent $1.2k for 90k miles service that include spark plus, timing belt, water pump, tranmission fluid. It has Oil changed every 5~6k miles. I got average 21.0 mhg (95% freeway, 5% local). It has a small gas tank and some wind noise. My car still in good shape, it's a rock soild car. I don't have oil sludge problem so far and hopefully it never happen.

Francis 99' RX , 95k miles

When Rita came to the door step of Houston last week, given this seemingly life & death emergency situation, it was easy for me to choose the RX300 over our brand new ML350 as vehicle of choice to bail the family out of Houston to Dallas. My decision was based on:

1) Almost bullet proof reliability track record of our RX300.
2) Better gas mileage for the long journey to Dallas.
3) Unknow reliability of the ML350 being in it's first year.
4) Last & not least, that intangible warm & fuzzy feeling knowing that my family is safer in the RX300.

At the end of the day, the proven reliability of Lexus/Toyota reputation won me over. That said, no issue with the ML3500 thus far (cross our fingers), and as daily driver, my wife loves it to no end.

how long did it take u to get up to dallas? How was your gas mileage?
it took me 12 hours from sugarland to austin. Gas mileage was pretty bad because the car was loaded and because i idled for so long a couple of times...

We live in the NW side of Houston. It took us about 10 hrs to reach Dallas, we took the non-evac back roads route (290 => TX 6/College Station => Madisonville => Dallas), at times we were the only car on the road. No problem filling up the tank between Navasota & Madisonville. We were never in need of gas, so I didn't pay attention to the avg. mpg, but we started with a tank full, filled up at College Station, and got to North Dallas with almost 3/4 of the tank full.

yep my family head west to san antonio... our 01' GS300 and 03' RX300 rode smooth no problems at all.. the rx300 gets better gas than my gs3!!!

about the quality of the rx300, i feel that it is up to par.. we bought our rx300 brand new and now has had 47k miles on it with just basic services like motor oil change, tranny fluid change, tire rotation.. the only problem our car had was one day the gauge cluster light up like a christmas tree.. the dealer was quick to replace the ecu the next day
