This morning I turned my fog light on and I heard faint high frequency noise from the steering column. It's like the radio station emergency broadcast testing tone but much higher pitch. The noise isn't loud enough to be heard when you are driving but definitely noticeable around stop lights.

Anyone know what this is?

Well do you have HID headlamps? Maybe it could be your HID's and not your fog lamps.

It's not my HIDs. And it comes from inside of the car. Only when the fog light is on. As if I have an electrical short.

Could be an electrical short or arcing at the fog light switch. Definitely have it checked by dealer asap.

And don't use hair spray in the vehicle. It might explode.

Oh, at first i thought it was the HID, usually the ballast makes those high pitch noise. Well in this case, I also recommend you bring it down to the dealership and let them check it out before bigger problem arise.
