How can I get the better MPG on my RX300 AWD?

I got only 16.4 mpg(mixed city/hwy, 80% on HWY)
on highway-only driving(60mph-75mph)...
This is with no passenger/cargo on my '99 RX300 AWD.
I have used 89 or 92 on it but the same result .

Any suggestion how get better MPG rate on RX 300.

You're probably not going to want to hear this, but try to drive gently. Avoid hard breaking, coast to a stop when possible. don't accelerate quickly, try to keep a steady pace.

I follow these rules myself, and on a recent trip averaged 24 mpg. With 87 octane.

Question How can I get the better MPG on my RX300 AWD?

Thank You for replay!

I do the same as you drive your LEXUS but result still the same. MPG result on LCD(if I reset) will changed every 2-3 seconds but after 30-45 minutes if froze.
I do not know what to do and dealer said everything normal

Our RX300 gets about 19 mpg (with 87 Gas) in most of the city driving. If you do a lots of "stop and go" type of driving, the mpg will drop sharply. I had one time with full tank of gas and driving in a very busy city area and only managed about 17.5 mpg. Have your Lexus dealer check it again if you get low mpg during normal driving, you might want them to check the fuel inject system and engine compression. Hope that helps.

Cool

My suggestion as everyone else is to drive slower. LOL, I know that sucks with such an awesome car.

I just added this to another post- Chevron gas (it's that Techron!) gives me much better gas mileage. I used 92 grade until prices went so high. I found I get better MPG on that.

My 2000 AWD RX300 averages less than 19 on 87 octane. About half city stop and go and half 65 to 70 mph highway. But as a security officer on construction sites out in the Arizona desert, I do run the AC several times during a shift, you know, when it hits 110 out.

You know the sad thing about all this fuel millage stuff? Some states are considering taxing on how much people drive now. Supposedly they are not getting enough tax money from the gas tax`s because people are driving less. What next? I`m afraid we`re all in for some real surprises in the not so distant future.

I get between 22-23 MPG on the highway on my RX300, and that is with very conservative driving. Specifically, setting the cruise control to 65-70 and letting the car do the driving. That car is in Arizona and so if you see a guy in an RX300 doing 65 in a 75mph zone, yea, it's me...
