I am quite satisfied with the stock 18' Goodyear tires which provides stability even when I was driving @110 miles with low noise and superb handling.

Had the Cross Terrains installed at Costco this afternoon. Even with the more aggressive tread pattern than the OM Bridgestones. They are just as quiet.

We're supposed to get snow tomorrow night. Hopefully they'll be as great as the Cross Terrains on our GX.

I don't care about what those reporters say, but i love these Cross Terrains. I remember when they first came out, i had a hard time getting them for my Rx300 during their sale in 02! I say they are great tires and i don't believe their report on it.

btw, for all those rotating their tires at costco, they now use NITROGEN for their "air". Food for thought!

Nitrogen helps keep the road noise down.

We got about 2 inches of snow tonight, so I figured it be a good time to try out the new Cross Terrains. Night and day difference between the CT's and the OEM Bridgestones. From a standing stop I'd hit the throttle pretty hard and the RX would just go. No wheelspin, no VSC. With the old Bridgestones, every startup at a light was accompanied by the rear end breaking loose to the right.

I am very happy with these tires. I was 90% in love with my RX from day one, but just couldn't understand the poor snow traction, especially for AWD with VSC. My love for it is finally at 100%. I wish I would have dumped the original tires a long time ago.

OMG I can't let this go. That's INSANE. It's complete complete complete BS.

Here's another interesting related quote:
"normal compressed air already contains 79% nitrogen. By inflating your tyres with pure nitrogen, you added about two parts of nitrogen to the air that had already been present in the tyres. This made the nitrogen content rise from 79% to now about 92-93%"

People claim that the ride is better too. They should be committed to an insane asylum.

Road noise comes from the interaction of the outside tread with the road. The sound is not transmitted internally thru the tire and suspension to any practical extent. The pressure of the gas in the tire is the same no matter what the content.

I realize this is an old thread. Just shoot me.

I do not know about the noise with using nitrogen. Cannot say I remember any difference, but different people may notice things.

I will say that my CrossTerrains are noisier than the Goodyear Integrities that I had last had more than 4 years ago, with or without nitrogen.

I would still use nitrogen any day over air...my tires have lasted longer and the tire pressure does not hop around like it used to without it, which I love for taking my RX300 to the track (now that is insane).
