Default Transmission going???

2000RX with 85K. Several days ago it seemed like my transmission was slipping a little bit. Hit the gas hard and RPMs go up and car does not. Did not notice any tire spinning. It did while I was parking and I messed around with it for a little bit and confirmed what I was sensing. When I got back in the car it did the same thing for a minute or two, then I was on the freeway. The next morning everything seemed fine. I have been trying to recreate this scenario and the car is acting normally. Am I crazy or is this a sign of problems?

When the tmission goes on one of these vehicles what are the most common symptoms? I dont feel comfortable taking it to the dealer unless it is acting up. Any advice is appreciated.

Assuming the fluid is not brown and smelling like tar then I'd think about a fluid change and new filter. When replacing the filter look to see what it has captured.
