Default Auto Wiper Problem

Anyone having problem with the wiper in auto setting? I dont think it is sensitive enough. It doesnt work when it needs to, and is very annoying and actuallly is a safety hazard. This is despite me turning up the sensitivity. Any response will be apppreciated. Thanks!

That doesn't sound normal - are you sure you have the arm set in the auto position, not off?

When I have it on super-sensitive, it is too much for me, I usually have it on low sensitivity, or one up from that and it works great.

We had a crazy amount of rain in Southern CA last week, and I made a trip from San Diego to LA in a downpour, and the thing worked great. Slowed down when the rain lightened up, and sped up when it starting coming down.

You should have it checked out by dealer - perhaps there is something interfering with the sensing mechanism if yours are not sensitive enough.

Yeah ... if anything ... it's TOO sensitive for my liking ... have it backed off all the way generally.

Assuming we're talking about the rain-sensing wipers, I have mine in the least sensitive position also; it works perfectly for me (it was actually an option I didn't want, but it came w/ the package, and I love it!)

I put it on "auto" only when it rains, 'cause I don't want that thing to wipe the windshield if there's not enough rain; then you get streaks!?!

SAme here, I find it a little too sensitive on even on the low setting when under light rain conditions. Usually it wipes a few times faster than I would like it to wipe. Mine is the rain sensing wiper. I do know the base has regular intermittent wipers so I'm not sure which on the original poster is talking about.

I agree with the original post, in that the Auto setting for the wipers does not work appropriately. I either get too little wiping when I need it or too much when it's not. I've played with max and min sensitivity and have failed to find a setting that works well for me.

Give me an intermittent wiper any day.

I agree, mine worked great through all of the rain we've had here this winter. Every once in a while it wouldn't speed up when it rained harder, but it would correct itself shortly. It's not perfect, but then again, what is?

thanks for the responses. my wife actually brought the car to the dealer and they did tell her they turned it up to the most sensitive setting. How, I am not sure but I know it did not work. I guess i have to talk to them again, maybe have the sensor replaced. It gives me a headache driving with all the rain drops on the windshield before the wiper kicks in. Argggh!

Add me to the list of those who likes the way the auto wipers function. Mine is perfect. It is a feature I've grown to really love. I never have to even think about the wipers.

Maybe they should clean the wiper sensor's surface. Make sure there's no Armor All protectant or something.
