'01 RX rear spoiler - is it functional or cosmetic?
I previously owned a Toyota LandCrusier, which had
a rear spoiler similar to the older RX300 spoiler.('99 style) It did blow dust/rain off the rear window quite
a bit.
My current '01 RX300's newer-style spoiler seems
to be there only for cosmetic reasons. The rain on
the rear window does not move an inch, even at 70 to
80 mph.. I applied Rain-X to the left half of the rear
window and it didn't make any difference...
Any thoughts?

My '99 RX has the "turn down" type spoiler and it does keep the dust and rain off the rear window.
I read some where that Lexus changed the rear spoiler to the new "straight back" type because the older one caused wind noise. Mine's quiet.

I want to see the newer style RX rear spoiler that is on the '00 and '01 have an LED light in them. Similar to the one on the IS Sportcross (visible at http://www.insidelexus.com
LED ligts are the best...really.

Thanks RX300TC!! The site says LED lights "for applicable models only" so I am not sure if this means the RX does or does not have them. So, I just e-mailed them and will hopefully find out soon. Hopefully so

I'm not quite sure I follow you, but no, the factory spoiler on the 2001 does not have LEDs in them. The part I showed you is an aftermarket part.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I do apoligize for the calrity of my previous posts. I just read it again and it is somewhat confusing. True, the spoiler on the '01 RX does not have LED's as many factory spoilers, such as the GS does. This is why I was questioning whether or not this aftermarket company had LED light in the spoiler for the RX.
Hopefully I will have the answer soon and will gladly post the results. Again, sorry for the confusion.

The aftermarket rear spoiler is much the same as the OEM spoiler for the '01 RX. No LED
I want a company to make LED lights to fit a variety of halogen, filament type, bulbs for blinkers, tail lights, etc. Only a select few are made now. Like HID they are more efficient with power, last longer, and in groups are brighter.
