Help! - Does 2001 RX300 need extended warranty?
The factory warranty on my 2001 RX300 will expire soon. So far it's been really trouble free and only logged 17,000 miles. Do I need to buy extended warranty? The best extension I found is 2-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper (sorta) for about $1000, does it worth it? I wonder how big the risk is to go without extended warranty given the liability record of Lexus.
Thanks a lot!

Thanks, but the Lexus warranty only covers 4-year/xx000-miles whichever comes first. So I guess at 4th year, no matter how low is your milage, your factory warranty is expired.

Which company is providing the extended Warranty: There have been very popular companies in the past providing warranties ... If I am not mistaken we had one who was CL sponcer as well.. but they did not or in future will not remain in business.
Extended warranty is a money making business for the INSURERS and not the insured.
What you BUY is peace of mind.
Bottom line: For the Lexus line of vehicles, you would be better off being self ensured (put the money in a special account). In case of trouble you may have to use it and in case of trouble free service, you can chose to celebrate at the end.

Totally agree with Salimshah. My wife drives (I too, whenever I can get my hands on it) RX300 2001 with 90k KM on it. I choose not to go with extened warranty after reading great comments on this board on how solid the suv is .. to be honest, so far I have changed tyres, brake pads and oil, etc. Nothing under warranty.

Thank you guys. Based on your valuable inputs I decide not to buy the expensive extended warranty. Although I still have about 2 month to agonize. People say about warranty is a thing if you bought nothing will happen but if you didn't you will wish you did. I just hope the latter is not true.
