A/C Failure at 90,000 miles
I just had my timiing belt replaced on my 1999 Lexus RX 300 at my 85,000 miles becuase my service adivor said it should be replaced every 7 years. As soon as I pick up my car, I can feel it drive different. Different in negative way that's hard for me to describe here. At 90,000 just before I decide to bring it to service, the Alternator and A/C belt snaped!!!
The dealer originally said it may be too tight that causing the belt to broke. However, they call back with $2400.00 repairing estimate for the A/C compressor, clutch, and condenser.
I am completely shocked that A/C failed at 90,000 miles. I suspect the dealer may have tight the alternator and A/C belt too tight and cause the A/C clutch to go back along with A/C compressor...
Now, my car in the shop and I don't know if I should go ahead and repair or bring to outside repair shop since outside shop estimate about $1600 or less.
I totally lost my trust on Lexus after that my alignment wasn't done correctly after 3 trials when my tires were wear unevenly. And now, $2400 for repair A/C system....
I don't think Lexus RX300 is reliable at all!!!!!

The car is fine... it sounds like it's the dealer that's not reliable.
I agree - if the service manager won't make it right, call Lexus corporate, and find another dealer for service.
