Default Why does Lexus have a link to KBB?

At the Lexus site "To calculate your current vehicle's trade-in value, just click on the button below" http://www.kbb.com/KB/KI.DLL/KW.KC.U...T&21&&ID=12345. Lexus dealers always say KBB overvalues RX300's trade-in values. Why would Kelly Blue Book value Lexi more than Lexus dealers?

Dealers always say that to low ball your trade-in value. They'll say the opposite when they want to sell you the car.

Actually, I've found that KBB is usually low on trade-in values, and Edmunds (http://www.edmunds.com) is usually high. An average of the two is a pretty realistic number.

And yes, dealers will say anything to lower your trade-in value and to increase the value of the car you're buying. Whatever they say is usually false, so just stick to what you know, and if they won't give you the right price, go to another dealer. When I traded my 2002 RX300, the trade-in value of it varied by as much as $4,000 depending on which dealer I talked to.

Some dealers are serious about that KBB link. When I bought my RX330 I traded in a 2000 Acura TL.. They would not negotiate the price on the trade-they gave me the KBB price from the web site. This was ok with me since it was 50% of what I had paid for the Acura over four years before. The RX was $100 over invoice so I don't think the deal was too bad.
