Default What is up with Sunoco GAS?

I have been using Sunoco Gas (reg) for 5 years now. A friend tells me his car (not an RX) runs like crap when he uses Sunoco reg gas. I always felt my RX had poor acceleration for a 220 HP engine. So I try a tank of reg HESS gas and wow the RX down shifts and accelerates like it should. I had no idea this could make such a differance. I will now try some other brands of gas.

Any one else find this to be true?

It could be that your Hess gas has different detergents compared to Sunoco, and your new found energy is from the cleanser.

I think Sunoco regular is 86 octane, not 87 like most gas stations.
And RX300 requires 87 or higher. So that may be an explanation.

Make sure you're comparing both 87 octane gasolines at Hess and Sunoco.

But if you are, well, keep avoiding Sunoco. :-)

I don't have a beef against Sunoco gas, but its 94 octane didn't do jack for me.
