Default Mint 99RX300 pricing help

Hello!

I was wanting to get a buy price from my Lexus dealer for my wife's 99 RX300...it is a NAK package with aftermarket DVD, silver/gray leather with only 37K...(she is a stay-at-home mommy!). Anyway, I was kinda shocked with the $11K buy offer. Was I expecting too much? Please let me know what pricing sounds in line...thanks in advance.

Check out www.edmunds.com and www.kbb.com. Neither are spot on, but they will give you a ball-park figure of what to expect. The dealer's offer will always be less than what you can get at a private sale.

There are plenty of sites/services on the web that will help you price your vehicle in your zip code. Another good resource is to check the local car ads for how much similarly equipped RXs are being offered.

Hope this helps.

toy4life86...my apologies for the obvious confusion. $11K was the offer I received from our Lexus dealer to sell them the vehicle. The RX is ours, original owner and all that good stuff....yes, she only drives approx 6K a year. I was expecting to get at least 15K and was going to use the funds to purchase a 04 GX470 from a friend.

When you sell to a dealer you will get a very low price. Just like trading in. If you sell privately, you could get more, but it will cost you some time and convenience. I am trying to sell my 00 RX with a tad more mileage than yours (120K), and I am asking more than they are offering you.
Look at AutoTrader.com to see what others are asking in your area, but remember that a dealer has to inspect and recondition, and then turn a profit, so depending on what they do (tires, brakes, fluids, etc.).

The price they gave you is probably a little low, but they can't sell a 7-model-year-old vehicle as certified, so it's less attractive to them than, say, an 03 with the same miles in the same condition.

My last resort is to go to Carmax. If you have Carmax in your area it is a good alternative to selling to a dealer. Sometimes they will give you more than a dealer will.
