Hello all,
I replaced the Mass airflow sensor for the third time, and after 300 miles the check engine light keeps comming up.
At the begining I thought that I got a defective one but now I have the same problem again with the replacement.
I went to Autozone and the error code was for the MAF. What can keep damaging the sensor? Could it be the oxygen sensor?
Any ideas?
Thank you

Why not try to see whether MAF is dirty, clean it and finds what is causing it to clog later?

Do you have an aftermarket air filter that is over-oiled? Is there engine oil spill near the air inflow inlet behind the driver head light? Again, take out the MAF first and see if it is dirty. If it is clean then you have other problems.

This may sound like a silly comment but if you don't have a code reader or error message reset tool and you install a new sensor the ECU may not read the new sensor properly.
Try disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes.
On my 540i once I installed the K&N aftermarket filter the ECU read a higher volume of air and as a result gave me a check engine message. (As per my signature)
Cleaned the MAF sensor and disconnected the battery for 15 minutes and voala... No errors since..

The reason for this is that with the aftermarket intake/filter, the flow changes compared to the previous runs, and the ECU via the MAF sensor thinks something is wrong. Subaru WRX and STi owners experience this all the time. Resetting the ECU (by disconnecting the battery) erases the previous data so it starts from scratch.
So try that.

Since I am constantly playing with my mods...I often have to disconnect the battery. End result...car runs like a cow. This also happens when I clean off my MAF every week (remember Mexico City air).
After repeated experimentation and advice from other racers. I have found that running the RX hard for a good 15 minutes on a highway (with few stops but flooring it whenever possible) will give you the best possible performance.
