Default RX300 Battery Replacement

Hey everybody. I just had all my video and audio stuff installed and they are making my lights flicker badly even with a big capacitor. Im planning to get a Optima Yellowtop. Does anybody know what size or model Yellowtop I need. Thanks

If you dig you will be able to find a writeup i and others did {istalltion procedure is the same} Unless Optima came up with new types, Optima's are NOT drop in replacements. If you are mechanically bent, you should be able to figure it out as you go. Remember to pick up the risor that snaps into the bottom of the battery to raise its height. Get some washers to fill between the hold-down and the nut.

I have a 34/78 model Red Top and looking at Optima's site there is the 34/78 Yellow Top.

The little platform or risor won't help.

First...to fit my Red Top...the battery had to be flipped so that the + side is on the left when you are facing it from the front of the car and the - on the left. If you don't do this battery cables won't reach.

Second, you will probably need to cut at least one of the plastic ties holding the battery cables so that they can reach the terminals. Then the battery cables should reach.

You will need plenty of washers and have to bend the battery clamp into place.

I would strongly suggest that you buy or making a grounding wire kit as they factory grounds don't cut it. I made my own but do a search on CL for others.

Based on red top...Bottom raiser platform will get oyu 95% and not 100%. The remaining height difference can be compesated by the washers. No need to bend the hold down clamp.

Caution: Optima posts are more farther away from the corner. Lexmex is right that you have to bend the terminal/lead. This does put tesnion on the post which for a good installation should not be there (it can potentially break the post). It has been over 2years and nothing has gone wrong for me. Just be aware.
