I get 16MPG 2000 AWD. It takes me 30 minutes to get to work, and the average speed from my home to work is 20MPH (San Diego Traffic)

Even with brand new K&N, properly inflated tires (nitrogen), synthetic oil, and a/c on 50% of the time. It just pains me to spend $50 a week at the pump

Given that you are driving NYC mostly, I would say you don't need to get it checked out. You need to get it out on the highway every now and then--reset the average as you begin cruising at about 60. If you are getting mid-20's, you are doing well. If you are still at 13 cruising, then you should get it checked out.

But I agree with Tuned--stop using premium gas. You are paying more money for NOT more performance.
