Anyone put a mirror compass in their 200 RX? I hear there are two available aftermarket, one from Mito corp and Donnelly. Lexus wants way too much for theirs, the Mito is $249.00 couldn't get a price on the Donnelly. If anybody has put one in let me know.
Thanks
Thanks

No, but I have wanted to as well. I check with the dealer a little while back and they said it was something like $600! They were also not sure if it would fit correctly b/c the wiring harness. With the compass on it there may be a difference, but I never did get a confirmatin.
Do you know the web-site for those two aftermarket items and are they specifically for the RX? Thanks.

Mirror compass for RX300 (2000)
Actually, Gentex is the company that makes the mirror. If you go to their website www.gentex.com, click on the product line and "how to I get one"? you can look at the list of vehicles that they make them for and the RX300 is one of them, it has auto dimming/compass/temp etc. Their unit is sold thru www.Mitocorp.com.

The mirror sold through mitocorp.com looks just like the ones on GM vehicles like the Yukon. I was hoping to have one more like we have now. I have the tan interior and the mirror is tan too.

compass mirror
I agree with you about mirror that Mito sells. Through them it only comes in black too. I figure if that's all I can get them I will paint it grey to match my interior. I just refuse to pay Lexus $600.00 (and that price is less then retail), $250.00 is slightly more palatable. Donnelly is another source have not been able to get info on theres.

Mirror
I installed a Donnelly mirror in my mother-in-law's Toyo Avalon. It took about an hour and has been flawless for three years. HOWEVER I am told by Lexus service that is a ***** to pass the temperature sensor from the passenger compartment through the firewall to the engine compartment/grill. I asked what it would cost to route some 10g power cables to the battery - $100+ for Lexus to do it! Why? Lexus will not drill thru the firewall, period, no ifs ands or buts.

Mirror compass
Since the Lexus has it's own outside termperature who cares about the Donnelly termp proble. My interest is strickly the compass part. Put a call into Donnelly yesterday, have not heard form them.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't Mitocorp only make two kinds of mirrors
1) Mirror with Outside Temp and Compass
2) Mirror with Auto dimmer
If you decide to go with the one with compass, won't you loose out on the auto dimming option.

compass mirror
Just got off phone with Mito. they make (Gentex) a Gen 10 and a Gen 20, the 20 shows temp and direction where the 10 will show one or the other. They don't think there is an output that would run the outside mirrors are far as auto dimming. Unless Donnelly comes up with something that will work on the 2000 model, either I pay the $600 from Lexus or get a hand help GPS.
