Default rx300 fan malfunction

my rx300 now has only one fan speed, max, or off. changing the temp control does not affect the fan speed, nor does adjusting the mode control. This does not seem to be a fuse problem. any thoughts?

As already mentioned this is almost always the blower motor resistor module on a normal car. But the RX has so much controled by electronics I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't even have one. First thing I would try is disconnecting the negative battery terminal for as few minutes to reset things.
Update: I just checked newlexusparts.com and there is a blower motor control module for $158. This may be it. Hard to believe it was less than $20 for my Olds.
