Hi,

We are close to getting a new 2001 fwd rx300 and are concerned with how light the ivory leather is. The black is too dark. We have an 89 Sable with medium grey leather/carpets and found it to be pretty forgiving. The Ivory looks like it will show *everything*

The ivory is light in color (see attached). Its hard to keep up with. The right leather cleaners have to be PH balanced for leather. The drivers seat of my neighbors ES (2 years old) has a hint of dye stains from his clothes.

Whatever color you get enjoy it, if you want to you can cover the drivers seat when really necessary.

I ordered some Zainos for my RX, I haven't used it before so I can't give you any feedback. Maybe some else out there has some experieince with Zaino leather products?

We have the Ivory in our 2001 RX. Yes, it's hard to keep clean. If you use a product like Lexol cleaner and conditioners every 2 or 3 months, the regular dirt will come out with no problems.

The problem stuff is dye marks from your clothes. A pair of jeans, a black jacket, etc. will tend to leave marks if you get in/rub the seat in a particular way. Doesn't happen often, but I've seen it. I almost yelled at my wife the first time I saw a mark on the seats, til I realized it wasn't her fault and there is nothing you can do about it.

The upside is that the marks will eventually fade due to both regular cleanings and the UV rays of the sun. I've had it explained to me by a leather expert that the sun itself will tend to "break down" the marks over time. The marks will not always be removable from just a one time cleaning.

The upside is that I love my black exterior with ivory and wood interior. Very luxurious looking and better than all black, which will tend to overheat in the summer.

I use Zaino's "Leather in a Bottle" periodically to protect the RX's leather. I baby my interior and have no kids (and am VERY strict with whoever rides with me - I'm such a joy!) so the light soil that is on the seats will come up while rubbing in the leather treatment. Anything heavier I just use something like 409:eek: I know, it's a harsh cleaner, but I condition right afterwards. I gets dirt out really well.

I use Lexol on all my leather interior. The soap and conditioner works wonders.
