Default multifunction display just dying

Hi,

I have a 1999 RX300. The multifunction display has just started to go blank erratically. The audio and temperature control contine to function normally without the display. The display sometimes comes back on with no particular patern (sometimes while the engine is running, sometimes when I just start the engine). Also note the clock appears to reset to 1:00 AM each time I start the engine and the display works. Any idea?

The thing with your clock sound eerily like your battery going. It happened to me and eventually Lexus replaced my battery.

I know use the Optima Red Top and no more problems.

Agreed, the battery is on the verge of dying. This was my symptom and battery replacement was the fix!

Default Display

I had my display go out about once a month. It would be missing just one part of the display. The AC or Stereo or information. I would just turn off the car. And it would come back. Then about 2 months ago. The clock started to reset. Got a new battery. No more problems.

Default Welcome to CL!

We are getting a lot of posts from early RX owners now about this phenomonon. It is almost always related to a failing battery. Sure, it looks like a disaster, but it is a good sign that your battery (and possibly your charging system) has a problem. Have it checked out under load - most Autozone and other retail parts chains have an instrument to do this . . . .and its FREE!

Fortunately the fix is relatively cheap and easy. Good luck, and welcome to ClubLexus, drgpvd!
