Programming options
#1
I just purchased a 2001 Silversport Sillver RX-300 and picked it up on Saturday. Very nice!
When I took delivery of my BMW, I was given a list of options for keyless entry, daylight running lights, etc. For example, one press on the unlock button on the key could unlock all four doors or just the driver's door. I could choose to have daylight running lights come on or not. There were about 6 or 8 options to choose from.
After reading the Lexus owner's manual I noticed that you could have some options changed; i.e. unlock only the driver's door or all doors with one puch of the unlock button on the key.
Where can I find a list of other options that can be changed?

By default (U don't need to program it),
first press the unlock button: unlock driver's door
second press: unlock all 5 doors
third press and press stability : opens all windows
and I think you can not turn off the daylight running lights by using the key.

The RX (as do all lexus vehicles) have ceratain programmable options. Someone here on CL has a copy of the optinos list, sorry, I do not. You can also aquire a list from a dealer. The options are things like the loudness of the beep when locking/unlocking you RX, unlock features (as Zimmer mentioned) among other things. There are several things to choose from and the factory setting has, for me, all of the desirable settings.

here is the list of options - it is on the GS forum posted by bitkahuna. Remember, not all Lexus vehicles have the same options. All of these options are not available for the RX. There was a list posted earlier that had each option and what lexus vehicle it applied to, but I can't find that one. This can give you an idea.

The third time you hit the unlock button, hold it down and the windows will go down until you let the button go. I tried it yesterday on my '99 and all the windows and the sunroof opened. How cool can you get. God I love this new vehicle.

If you hold the unlock key for approx 5 seconds, all the windows will go down, and the sunroof will open. You don't have to press the unlock key 3 times.
First press: unlocks driver door
Sencond press: unlocks all doors
Press and Hold (wheter it's first, second, etc): windows roll down, and sunroof opens.
The only way you can put the windows up is
1) manually from inside
2) put the key in the door lock and turn it (don't know which side, right or left, but it will go back up)
There is no way to put roll up windows with a remote.
Hope that helps.

It's up to the driver...
Volvos and BMWs have daytime running lights, but
they allow the owners to choose. On some Volvos,
there's a tiny manual switch, and on Bimmers, I think
it is done by re-programming.
My brother-in-law is a state trooper. He tells me that
he loves cars/trucks with daytime running light... he
can see them from farther away, giving him more time
to clock the speed.... (also those with HID lights)...,
just like red cars are pulled over more often...
enough said?
I disable my daytime running lights... however, I
always turn on my headlights when the condition
warrants it... cloudy days, rain, snow, dense tree
shadows, etc...
