Now in my 99, it was a stock 2 inch pipe for the cat. It was a 3 way, but I do not remember what the model number was. A 1999 RX FWD weighed about 3,700 lbs. while the AWD was 3,900 lbs. I went downstairs and looked underneath and felt on top and looked all around but no number.

I MIGHT be stopping by Hangar 1 as early as tomorrow, where I bought and had installed that cat, so I can ask them. They would not know offhand if I called and my receipt does not give a part number.

Lexmex, sounds like 2" inlet and 2" outlet, could you confirm by measureing your OEM cat?

The exhaust is a 2 inch pipe. From what I took a look at, it appears the the cat also used a 2 inch inlet, 2 inch outlet, though I will ask them tomorrow to see if they in fact used a 2.25 inch inlet/outlet for an easier weld. Definitely 3 way cat.

I asked Hangar 1 and they told me the Magnaflow part number is 94005. This cat uses 2.25 inch inlet/outlet, though exhaust pipe is 2 inch. This makes it easier to weld.

Let me know if you need anything else regarding this.

Almost forgot to mention, but for some reason the Magnaflow catalog (it was from the U.S., not one for Mexico) did not even show any SUVs at all, just cars and trucks. Luckily, the manager remembered right away which one it was after looking quickly underneath the car and then pointing to the picture in the catalog.

I had to replace my cats on my Bimmer -- it's also ridiculously expensive to replace at the dealer. I got a couple of Magnaflow high flow cats off ebay for around $100 for the pair, plus $50 for the install, and I was all set! Plus, more hp due to the freer flowing exhaust.

$150 beats $1,500 any day for me!!

So I don't need to replace the entire y shaped converter? The guy at the muffler shop told my husband that it was cracked and the picture is the same place where it is cracked so I can purchase a that part from magnaflow and should fix the issue.

Just get it repaired and in a hurry. You don't want the silent killer makes it way into the cabin.
