BMW X5 3.0 - Last year of current model. Drove well, but certainly not a value proposition.
Infiniti FX35 - Other than navi and bluetooth (which has questionable reliability), really didn't offer anything more than I currently have.
RX330/350 - Once again, other than navi, bluetooth and a power rear door, didn't offer any compelling reason to spend the money.
M-B ML350 - Very disappointed. Felt very narrow. Made passenger nauseous from ride motions.
VW Touraeg V6 - Slow and heavy. Also very questionable VW reliability.
Acura MDX - Too big for me. Also, nearing end of current model run.

Now, if a reliable manufacturer was to produce a mid size SUV with navi, bluetooth, COOLED seats, and a power rear door, I'd be front of the line! But until that happens, I'm sticking with my RX!
Let it be know that Lexmex has ripped up 4/6 models above listed and the other two don't exist in Mexico (so that took care of my power comparison).

Before I got my RX300, I looked at the MDX, but this thing sits up like a tank and drives like one, too. The Touraeg V6 is an oversized VW Beetle (I like Beetles and sometimes get behind the wheel of 50-60s turbocharged versions ) ML350 (now the new one looks way better than any of their previous ML products), but I don't like their quality, it sits up way too high and it just is not smooth on the pedal. X5 3.0 (I have neighbor with a 4.8 and that thing flies in a straight line, but little else) and again too tall the thing feels like it is going to tip on a turn.

Finally, RX330/350. I love Lexus but some designs I love more than others. I still liked the curved back of the RX300 and I equate the back of the newer RXs with one similar to the X5, though the front looks fantastic. The turning radius is way improved over the RX300, but their some classic design to the RX300 is what intrigues me. I also did not like that when the RX330 came out, it was not a gigantic leap in horsepower (like the RX350/400h) for the $$$.

i shall be keeping my silversport forever..i have been very meticulous with my car with regard to maintenance and it has been treating me well!

If your car is not giving you problems, why get rid of it. Besides, with ONLY 86k miles you've reached about 1/4 of the life expectancy of the car ..u have many more enjoyable miles to go. cheers

There is no "Toyota Harrier" in the States, it is sold in Japan because of the lack of the Lexus brand. Toyota Harrier 1st Gen/2nd Gen = Lexus RX300/RX330 or RX350 so you probably wouldn't need a pic to know what one looks like. Hope this helps

I have had the good fortune a few years back to see not one, but two Harriers here in Mexico belonging to diplomats. Not much different from our own RX300s.

Talking Run that sucka to the ground

Who wouldn't want a new car every three or so years? I guess a lot of people do, that's why the lease market is still so hot, which actually leads to a lot of good CPO vehicles in the market.

My '99 RX is coming up on 80K and it's been excellent. I plan on running this baby to the ground, which might take a few more years, if not decades. If you go into a purchase with the mindset that you're going to own a vehicle for several years, then you should choose one that fits most, if not all of your needs. If the vehicle continues to fit your needs, then why change it just to have a newer vehicle?

My RX is AWD top of the line with everything (except the LSD). There is nothing on the new vehicles that I feel if worth my investment to upgrade. Bigger engine, slightly more room, finer leather, active headlights... all things that are minor upgrades to an already fine vehicle.

If in time, my family expands to more than what it is now, then I might consider getting the GX ro LX, but until that time, I'll be keeping my RX until it passes to the big race track in the sky...

2000 RX with about 95K miles. Almost all of the maintenance has been normal wear & tear and preventative. It's been the most reliable and maintenance free car I've owned. Not sure how long we'll keep it, but I would guess for another 2 years. My wife drives it and she still loves it.
