I'm keeping mine for sure! Heck it might be with me forever one day I'll teach my son/daughter to drive it, which would probably be a while but I love my RX300.

I love my 2002 RX300 and plan to keep it 10 years. (But, then again, I planned to keep my Mercedes Diesel for 10 years and wound up keeping it for 19 1/2 years.) I only do about 10,000 miles per year, so that only 100,000 miles.

I plan on keeping my RX300 for at least 10 years, no matter the mileage. It's been an extremely reliable, safe, and comfortable vehicle. After 4 years and over 60,000 miles, the only problem was a burn out D-shift light.

Sure, the RX400h and RX350 are nice, but I think that I should be satisfied with what I have.

My '99 RX is still running strong. As long as it runs well without issues we'll keep it. However, I must admit that we also purchased a 400h, too.

Great question.

My parents bought our 2000 RX300 AWD in July of 2000. It had the LSD and basically all the factory bells and whistles (except chrome wheels and the gold package). We bought it from them about three years ago when my father suffered a massive stroke and could no longer drive. All in all, we put 85,135 trouble free miles on her in nearly 6 years and she ran as strong the day we sold her as when we it was new. It has a few minor problems (the slight vibration in drive while at a stop light) but never broke down and only went through one set of tires!

It was unstoppable in the S. CA rain and performed brilliantly on the few snowboarding trips we took it on. We routinely avg'd 19+mpg in mixed driving and I actually grew to love the car that I originally thought of as nothing more than an appliance.

I honestly thought we were going to keep it until it stopped running.

But we sold it on Wed. to a co-worker.

Why you ask? My wife had been eyeing an LX470 for a few years now. And after she drove the more powerful model at the Taste of Lexus last year, I was a goner. We shopped around for some time and got a smoking good deal on a brand new LX. Too good, according to my wife , to pass up. So we have two drivers, two SUV's and the NSX. No problem, I was going to use the RX as my airport, ball game, rainy day car and treat the LX as the daily driver and the NSX would continue to be the weekend/date car.

Then... a co-worker of mine who has been dying to buy the RX (he constantly told me "don't ever sell that without asking me first... I want it for my wife") ends up really needing the car. His son totalled their Oldsmobile in an accident last week (Thank God everyone was ok). So now he really needs a car and is willing to pay me top dollar for the RX.

At the same time, my parents (my Mom in particular since she commutes nearly 150 miles every day through S. CA traffic) have been jonesing for a new car. They have owned a 1990 LS400, a 1994 LS 400, the RX, and were still driving a 1997 LS 400 Coach Edition with 127,000 miles on the odometer. As I mentioned, I just bought an LX and my sales contact tells me that with the new LS460 coming soon, he can make my folks an offer on an LS430 that they can't refuse. Turns out he was right. So my Mom drives off on Monday night in another white on tan with chrome wheels LS! Her fourth iteration of the same car. The only change I could convince her of was to forgo the gold package this time.

But the old LS isn't worth that much from a trade in perspective. But it runs very well, has been very reliable and is worth more to me as a third car than to the dealer who will probably wholesale the car anyway.

So... after some gnashing of nails... we decide to sell the RX to our co-worker and then buy the LS from my parents. Net/net we pocket a bunch of $ and I no longer feel so guilty about mothballing our RX to a life of sitting in front of the house and only being used for Angels games.

People here in Mexico still cannot believe it when I tell them my RX is a 99. Most have never seen one in person or in a magazine, but they are absolutely shocked. They also cannot believe there is a new model.

It depend on you, I am not selling my RX300! My only complained RX300 wheelbase isn't so long compared mid-size sedan and SUV! It felt underpower and throttle reponse lazy under push hard gas. An another main problem RX300 air flow meter, and kept clean every 6 months or replace new one! Check engine light won't turn on! What's your plan buy new car? RX350 coming soon! I went to Lexus dealership test drove IS350! I asked sales person RX350 so better and faster than old RX330!

My RX300 used to feel "lazy" when I used mid-grade gas (87 in Colorado.) After I switched to regular (85,) throttle responded much better and the tranny downshifts on demand. Also the tranny shift much smoother.

I never had to clean the AFM. By any chance, are you using K&N filter?

As much as we like our 2000 RX300 with 70K miles, we will be replacing it with a 2006 Volvo XC90 V8 with all options that we will be picking up from Volvo's factory in Sweden as part of their European delivery program. We have a one year old now which means my parents and in-laws visit us more often and the need for the third row seat is felt during those times. Plus, I really wanted safety features such as dynamic stability control, etc. which the newer SUVs have (including the current RX) that my 2000 RX did not.

I've been looking to sell/trade in my '01 RX300, but there is NOTHING for sale that is compelling enough for me to spend the money. Without debating the merits of each car, here are my comments:

BMW X5 3.0 - Last year of current model. Drove well, but certainly not a value proposition.
Infiniti FX35 - Other than navi and bluetooth (which has questionable reliability), really didn't offer anything more than I currently have.
RX330/350 - Once again, other than navi, bluetooth and a power rear door, didn't offer any compelling reason to spend the money.
M-B ML350 - Very disappointed. Felt very narrow. Made passenger nauseous from ride motions.
VW Touraeg V6 - Slow and heavy. Also very questionable VW reliability.
Acura MDX - Too big for me. Also, nearing end of current model run.

Now, if a reliable manufacturer was to produce a mid size SUV with navi, bluetooth, COOLED seats, and a power rear door, I'd be front of the line! But until that happens, I'm sticking with my RX!
