I hope to run at sea level when I get some more travel $$$ and some more time. San Antonio, Texas is the most likely scenario as they have a beautiful track east of the city. Veracruz is another place, but the track is almost never open. I tried to run it in San Antonio Dec. 2004, but the track was closed due to high winds and extreme cold.

The predicted run at sea level is at least 16.2 (don't buy into that 16.8 stock time from Lexus...every magazine I read that tested the 1/4 mile showed 17s). However, we think with cleaner American gas and cleaner air (this Mexico City) we could hit a 15.9.

I had very disappointing times but I blame weather. The air pressure was well under 30 (we have our weather station up an running) and the temperature on my console hit 80 F at one point, hottest night I have ever seen at night. I ended up running an 18.5, but I could tell the hot air was eating my track times as my vehicle speed was in the 121 km/h range, which would normally translate to 18.2 or so on a better night (yes, you can have a fast vehicle speed and slow 1/4 mile times). The Neon SRT-4s were all running high 14s (as opposed to a few 13s) and my friend with a Golf VR6 Turbo only hit 15.4 and usually gets 14s. The crowd was actually whistling at the racers complaining about no 13s, so they knew what was up.

Tomorrow, as many of you know I will be doing the differential/transfer case/tranny fluid changes and be taking some pretty pictures for the forum. I also plan to put my heat shield back on the intake, but keep using this intake.

This is a rear shot of the piece with the bottom having the wire mesh. If this piece works right, I will put on a finer piece of mesh for sea level.

This is the installed piece with the heat shield over it.

The heat shield serves more as a heat absorber than anything else (being that it was a cooking pot originally ), but I like having it there nevertheless.

At the track on Saturday night I ran a fastest time of 18.163, with 123.07 km/h with a 2.750 in the 60 foot (though did clock a 2.746 one run later). The air temp was 66 F, 29.91 air pressure and 45% humidity, not too favorable at all.

Putting the the heat shield back on seemed to help, but the real difference tonight was the Royal Purple in the transfer case and rear differential along with the ATF being changed out of the tranny and front differential. When I switched gears it is so smooth, it only seems like hitting a tiny rock in the road. The downshifts also seem noticeably improved without any pauses or hesitations.

This a comparion from the last post, but also to show my RX runs on different runs. Our vehicle trap speed wasn't working on one side.

Last night we had 63F, 29.95 air pressure, 34% humidity.

No records, but though this might be interesting.

With all these runs I use PWR on and Overdrive off

1. First run: 10:01 p.m. (solo run)
18.606
121.73 km/h
3.058 60 foot

2. Second run: 10:04 p.m. (solo run)
18.471
2.977 60 foot

3. Third run: 10:08 p.m. (solo run)
18.386
2.984 60 foot

4. Fourth run: 10:12 p.m. (victim was an early 80s Mustang destroyed by 2.724 seconds)
18.134 (17.931 is the record)
123.17 km/h (123.69 is the record)
2.734 60 foot *(2.694 is the record)

5. Fifth run: 10:17 p.m. (solo run)
18.238
3.019 60 foot
(take a good look at this run...if I had a 2.7 60 foot and you do the subtraction this would have been within the thousands of a second close to my 17.931 record)

6. Sixth run: 10:21 p.m. (solo run)
18.408
2.983 60 foot

7. Seventh run: 10:27 p.m. (solo run)
18.471
3.013 60 foot

Notice that when I ran against someone, I am .3 faster in my times. Call it psychological.

On the turbo project as I may have mentioned to some of you, I am waiting to see on the Aerocharger Turbo as I discussed in another post (I spoke to enough people but am waiting to hear back from sellers). I narrowed my BOV and Boost Controller finalists to Apexi and Greddy. If I can get that turbo I want, the project will move forward at light speed. I actually wouldn't need to wait for headers or rims as I can adjust some of the other piping to compensate for the time being (still no word on when those Megan Racing headers will be ready or when my place at Hangar 1 will be ready). I really don't intend to wait on either of them to get this thing going. The piping is simple and even the intercooler design is not too hard to do. Would take us only a day or so to get the pipes cut and everything installed.

We actually will chop off that Sankei resonator underneath and extend the twin 2.25 pipes from the cat since the turbo will keep it silent. The muffler will stay. Unfortunately, it won't make that pssst sound that probably a lot of you want to hear.

Until I hear more info, I plan to continue to upgrade the air mods with some of my other ideas
