tire rotation
30,000 (RX) service is $500 at my Lexus dealer; all fluids, filters, inspections, but no tire rotation.
Yesterday I had my GX 10,000 service; $200, but no tire rotation; ,mechanic said they don't do it anymore. any comments?

On my tires, with the last and this set, after two tire rotations using the fronts going straight back and the rears going forward but switching side, I swtiched upon advice of my uncle and one off road 4x4 person who races in the Corona Rally to eliminating the rears going forward but switching sides to see if I will get less wear.

it seems to me with the rx being heavily front wheel drive and most of the weight up front that in order to insure even wear and longevity you still need rotation, not to mention what they are charging for the service and that it still is an item in the maintenance schedule. my dealer has no problem doing the rotation at every lube service at no extra charge.

I suspect the problem is that it is hard to rccomend a swap process.
Many years back the swap procedure was like a 5pointed star (the spare was the 5th). Then we started the era of small spare and stamped rim, that forced a rotation of 4 wheels with a left side to right side cross-over. If you use directional treads, then you can not cross over.
On my cars I have been doing front to back swaps.Since my wear pattern is even, front to back works fine.

What does your Warranty Book say about the items required for a 30000 mile check? I would suggest that Lexus knows more than a mechanic. My local Lexus dealer still does tire rotations (4 tire) if I let them service my car. I do 5-tire rotations since the spare is a normal one and it is what is called for in my 2005 Warranty Book.
