Lightbulb out Indicator
My lighbulb out indicator is on indicating rear light out. I've checked all rear lights and all are working fine, but indicator still always comes on . Any fixes? Thanks

Recheck them at night, looking for one dimmer than the others. All four corners, side lamps, high and low beam, fog lamps and focus on the center brake and license plate lamps. Run the flashers, backup lamps.

Thanks for your suggestion. I did as suggested but can't find any light that is out. When I start the engine, the indicator is not on but as soon as I step on the brakes, the indicator comes on.

Brake lights
If the light is not on when you first start but comes on right after you step on the brakes, then one (or more) of the four brake lights or center mount light is out. Have someone assist you with checking the lights to make sure all five lights come on once the brake pedal is pressed.

If one of the brake bulbs is not busted, then either you wait till it pops (will happen within weeks) or start replacing them one by one.

I have the same problem with my 2000 RX 300. The "light failure" yellow indicator came on when I start the engine and apply the brake. All the outside lights are working when you turn them on. The problem is this: The four brake lights, two on the left side and two on the right should come on during the day, when you apply the brake, or they should illuminate brighter when you apply the brake at night time. One of these lights does not come on or illuminate brighter when I apply the brake. So I figured it is the brake light switch that should be replaced. But I don't know how to get into the brake light switch to replace the faulty one, and I don't know how many brake light switch it has since there are a total of four rear lights controlled by the switch. Am I on the right track here? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Hishines,
I had the same problem. Have someone apply the brake while you observe if the five brake lights, two on the left, two on the right, and one on the middle (immediately below the spoiler) illuminate. I can bet at least one of those lights do not illuminate. If that is the case, replace the bulb that does not illuminate when the brake is applied. Read this advice from Tammy. I followed it and it fixed the problem:
"The brake lamps are dual filiment bulbs, on four of the five brake bulbs. The center bulb has a single filiment. The lamp that does not come on when the brake is applied is open and needs replacement. Look for plastic screw caps covering the lens mounting screws, rear hatch opened.
The brake lamp switch provides voltage ground to all five brake filiments at once... If one lamp works, the switch is good".
Good Luck,
LEXMICK

I finally found the problem and thanks to all you guys. I checked all the rear bulbs to make sure the ratings are as specied and they all were, except for the high mount brake lightbulb that had #908 instead of #921. I went to Autozone, bought lightbulb # 921, installed it, worked like magic. No more annoying lightout bulb indicator.
Thanks to Daddy-O for posting on his RX300 FAQ v.1.21 the lightbulb specs as follows:
Low beam headlamp Part number = 9006
High beam headlamp Part number = 9005
Parking light Part number = 168
Front turn signal Part number = 1157('99-'00) 7440('01-'03)
Rear turn signal Part number = 7440
Tail light Part number = 7443
Stop light Part number = 7443
High mount stop light Part number = 921
Fog/Driving lights Part number = 9006
License plate Part number = 168
Back up light Part number = 7440
Front side-marker Part number = 194
Rear side-marker Part number = 194
Glove box Part number = 74
Dome light Part number = DE3175
Step/Courtesy light Part number = 2825

The wrong voltage and wattage bulb was installed.
http://www.servicelighting.com/catal...m?prod=MB09080 This is the #908 bulb
http://www.servicelighting.com/catal...m?prod=MB09210 This is the #921 bulb
The correct type #921 bulb is a 12.8 Volt, 1.4 amp, 17.9 watt bulb
The incorrect type #908 bulb is a 6 Volt, 1.5 amp, 9 watt bulb
The wattage is electrical load, sensed "out of specs" by the ECM, triggering the error indicator.
Thanks for the excellent feedback on this fix...
