I just got an 03 RX300 with Nav and all the goodies but I want to upgrade the Nav dvd. Am I correct in that the DVD player is located near the jack in the back? Also what is the latest Version of the software that works in this vehicle? I see tons of them listed on ebay but I know most of them are most likely junk or older than what I already have. Will all the lexus DVD's work in any lexus or are they model specific. I drive a lot to Canada and my current version does not cover any of Canada. I just want to make sure I get the right DVD to upgrade the system. Thanks a lot for any info.

I already tried a search in the forums but couldn't find and info on the 03' or specific parts numbers.

Yes, you're correct about the location of the DVD drive.

Your RX 300 has either "Generation 2" or "Generation 3" navigation... I'm not sure when Gen 2 ended. The 2004 RX 330 has Gen 3 as well. Gen 4 came out in 2005, and Gen 5 is now out on 2007 models.

You need a disc that will update the correct generation. And you can never go up a generation, as that's a major software upgrade that won't work. You can only replace the map and POI data. Gen 2 and Gen 3 are very similar, so the same disc applies to both. If you're shopping on eBay, beware - you must buy an *update* disc, not a program disc.

I have an 02 rx and have the disk that came in the car, if someone has a newer disk, I would also love to get the update.
