Brake Light Problem
My "rear light failure" indicator comes on when I start the engine and apply the brake. The problem is: one of the brake lights does not come on when you apply the brake during daytime, or illuminate brighter when you apply the brake during night time. All these lights are working when you turn them on without applying the brake. What could be the fix for this problem? Anybody knows? Hishines on the other thread has the same problem.

With your previous posting.....
" I have the same problem with my 2000 RX 300. The "light failure" yellow indicator came on when I start the engine and apply the brake. All the outside lights are working when you turn them on. The problem is this: The four brake lights, two on the left side and two on the right should come on during the day, when you apply the brake, or they should illuminate brighter when you apply the brake at night time. One of these lights does not come on or illuminate brighter when I apply the brake. So I figured it is the brake light switch that should be replaced. But I don't know how to get into the brake light switch to replace the faulty one, and I don't know how many brake light switch it has since there are a total of four rear lights controlled by the switch. Am I on the right track here? Any information will be greatly appreciated. "

The brake lamps are dual filiment bulbs, on four of the five brake bulbs. The center bulb has a single filiment. The lamp that does not come on is open and needs replacement. Look for plastic screw caps covering the lens mounting screws, rear hatch opened.
The brake lamp switch provides voltage ground to all five brake filiments at once... If one lamp works, the switch is good.

Tammy and Slowtan,
Thank you for this useful information. You explained it very well Tammy. I will try to remove the plastic covering and replace the defective bulb.
