Yes. Just make sure you dont run the engine with the hoses disconnected.

Last of all when every thing is connected and reservoir is full, turn with front end on jack stands, turn steering all the way to the left, then all the way to the right and then left again to bleed any air.

Another, bit longer process is to simply syphon out and fill. Repeat after few days and then repeat couple of more times.

I have used the suction and fill method on all of my cars for yeas. No mess at all. Takes a few extra times to get it clean, then I just do it a couple times a year and it always looks brand new. I use an oil extractor to make it super easy with zero clean up.

Is the setup the same as in the video except instead of pushing the fluid out by turning the wheel, you suck it out using the pump? Would a MityVac brake bleeder do the job also?

No, just suction the reservoir with the car off and refill. It's not the most efficient way to do it because it's the dilution method, but fluid is cheap and it only takes a few times to get it clean. Do it after a a drive a couple of times and it looks new again.
