Exhaust Tip
So yesterday I bought a pretty nice exhaust tip...and bolted it on. It makes a pretty decent humming noise, and once u get past like 3500rpm u just hear it spewwing the exhaust out the back. I just was wondering one thing. If i cut the stock muffler tip thingy a little shorter, so that it's not curved downwards, do you think I will get increased flow and sound.
I'll try and get a pic up soon.
thank you,
ajk

If the tip is stainless you can cut it, but if it is chromed, you will probably have a rusty mess on your hands when you expose bare metal. Can't tell without pic and/or description. For a quick check, place a magnet on the tip - if it sticks, it's a ferrous metal and shouldn't be cut. If you do choose to cut it, consider using a tubing cutter rather than a hacksaw for a MUCH better finish.

It still won´t make much difference.
If you remove it, the sound volume would go slightly higher, but the change in flow would be almost nil for power.

Agreed, sound will be much the same, but you can cut that tip to redirect exhaust flow straight out. Watch closely for signs of developing rust, and if needed, clean the stock tip (and maybe the back of the resonator) with high-temp paint. (I used barbecue black, but you might want to use something nicer! )

When I was down at the place where I pick up my K&N stuff, I noticed that VHT has some caliper paint...figure that could be used for the high-temp paint.
