Engine Coolant top-up help
Hey people, I'm a noob when it comes to cars,
I have a simple question on the topping up of coolant in my Rx300. I noticed the level in the reservoir is low. So can I simply get one of those recommended coolant and pour it into the reservoir without having to remove the radiator cap?
Thanks!

Your welcome.
A side note on this.
Topping off you can do from either the reservoir or the radiator cap (when cool).
When you are doing a drain and fill of your coolant system, after checking the coolant reservoir level, make sure you check it later, especially after driving it or after it sits overnight, to see that the level has not gone down.
Barring an actual leak, this is normal, and you just need to get it back up to the correct level the day after.

Another tip is to run the heater. without that, portion of the coolant circuit does not come on line.
If you have bubble(s) or trapped air in the colant, there is a procedure to follow. Normal circunstances, jut add the coolant to the overflow reservoir. [properly mixed distilled water + coolant additive]

Yes, fill it through the reservoir. The cap simply pops open like a milk jug cap.
Fill it up only half way between Full and Low because the coolant level will rise when the engine is hot.
I recommend that you fill it up with 50/50 Toyota Long Life Coolant. Prestone or Peak works, but it will give you lots of gunk later and choke your water pump and other stuff. Not worth the saving.
