Default DIY - RX300 red/clear taillights

Hey guys, after seeing this Fabulous RX300

I've always wanted to get those red/clear tails...

I settled for these black housing taillights because I thought the black/black would look cool...

I got bored with that look and after seeing this SC member have some incredible results with his tails:

I tried it myself!! And I'm pretty happy with the results...I am going to redo them so they are much glossier and apply a clear bra over it to keep it from fading...

Well, here it is! Sorry for the dark pic, I'll snap some day shots later...

Those do look nice. I have the black tails too. I wonder how they'll look on mine though since my RX is gold

Much nicer than before. It gives the tail light a lot more depth.

Those do look good. I will have to think about that one since I also have an all black RX.

It's slowly being modded...fixing up my SC, GS430, and this RX puts a big dent in your wallet

I keep the roof rack for winter season for snowboarding which is the main reason why I bought this 4wd RX...I also have custom Wet Okole neoprene seat covers to keep the nice coach leather from getting damaged on rainy days..

I could have made it identical to the Fabulous tails, but I ran out of spray. 1 can isn't enough for a deep red. Anyways, I kinda like the transparent look.

Here's a daytime shot:

And here are my money pits...

Nice job, where did you pick that stuff up? I read in the other post that it was only 25 dollars, and it looks like it is well worth it. No joke, it looks freaking factory. How many coats did you use, and let us know if it starts fading/chipping.

Awesome look!

Did you use the original clear housing tail lights or the black housing tail lights? I am asking because I was wondering if there are any differences in the look when you use that spray paint on the clear and the black tail lights.

I picked it up at Super AutoBacs, yeah, kinda pricey compared to other sprays but after I tried it, it was well worth it. Because it's a thin film on the outside, i'm sure it'll start to chip/fade after some washes, but I'll try not to scrub as hard on the tails

What i'm going to do next is get some clear bra film and redo both tails and apply the clear bra over the taillights. It should last a looooong time...

I painted over the OEM chrome housings, I'm sure if I did the black housings, the red would be much deeper similar to the Fab RX...

Awesome look. I am considering doing it for mine. Did you paint the lens outside or was it taking it from inside? Any special instructions that I should follow?

I painted them on the outside. I want to try to find a spare OEM 01+ taillight that I can experiment on the looks of painting outside vs. inside...

Anyone have any spare 01+ tails laying around?
