Default Driver's Door Panel Removal

I've worked on a lot of different makes of vehicles over the years, including Toyotas. This 2000 RX300 driver's door panel has me stumped. I've removed the 2 screws at the bottom, the 3 push-ins, and the screw behind the pull-handle, and still can't get the panel off. The window switch-plate probably has a fastener of some type behind it but I can't figure out how to get the switch-plate off. Does anyone have a connection with the " door-panel fairy "? Thanks.

I watched the window repair guy pop mine out. I thought it was the same as the passenger. Does it feel like you are just getting stuck by one screw? Can you even pull the panel back from the bottom?

I can pull the panel out at the bottom, but it feels as though there is something that needs to be released behind the window switch-plate. Even when lifting up on the whole panel it just seems stuck at the point of the switch-plate.

I'm looking at the repair manual (2002 RX), page BO-16. It looks like you first remove the door inside handle bezel, by opening the cap and removing the screw. Next remove the power window switch. It illustrates how to wedge a screwdriver in to push in the plastic fasteners.

Then, it indicates to remove the bottom courtesy light and disconnect the connector; and remove 4 screws and 3 clips. It looks to me like two screws on the bottom, one beneath the door pull. Two clips appear to be on rear side door side and one under door speaker.

If that doesn't help, maybe somebody can scan the page for you.

I don´t have my RX300 nearby or even the service manual, but when my cousin and I removed he panel, I also remember that fastener being a PITA. Best I can remember without seeing it is that we had to wedge a small flathead screwdriver up in there through the hole by the handle to remove it. The fastener was one that went straight up and looped back.

I also could have sworn there is another screw you also need to take off maybe on the right side of the panel.

This was that thread that I did about the window, but I do not think the fastener shows up near where the handle is, https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ghlight=window

I don´t know if that white fastener at the top is it.

I've removed the door panel, finally. The switch-plate had a clip at the very front of it...After releasing the clip it just picks up and slides out at the rear of the switch-plate, revealing a screw. The inside door handle / lock bezel was also a PITA. The reason I was removing the door panel was to inspect the power lock actuator. It hasn't worked in few days. It seems as though everything is connected. The door locks / unlocks manually but not with the switch or the remote. To lock all of the doors and set the alarm the driver's door has to be locked manually and the the remote will lock all of the other doors. The remote won't lock the other doors until the driver's door is locked. As much as I hate to admit it, I think this is a job for a Lexus / Toyota dealer. The latch and actuator come as one unit, about $250.00. A dealer will probably charge for 2-3 hours labor so I figure the bottom line to about $500.00-$600.00. What a bite! A few days ago I replaced BOTH window regulator / motors [ left & right ] in my ' 01 Silverado. About 1 hour per side and $140.00 a piece. What a difference in vehicle manufacturers.

yeah, mine summs up to arround 370 per door as I have to do 2 doors (both passenger sides)

I'll do the work at home as it would be too much to do. Where can I get the repair manuals for the RX (1999) ?

Thanks!

There are NO repair manuals available for the RX or Highlander, ANY YEAR! I use a Haynes Camry manual, pretty much the same. The only available manuals for the RX are sold at the dealership, about $100.00 each for the 2 volumes. Another example of a Lexus " screw-job "!
