Remote oil filter
Has anybody attempted to install a remote oil filter on there RX300? Which system did you get and was it hard to install?

I just changed my oil and filter a few hours ago. This was the first time I've done it myself.
I didn't think it was bad at all. I first drained the pan. Then, I used a cap-over-the-top filter removal tool with 3/8" rachet with flex-head. I only had about 4 clicks of handle movement, but it came on and off easily. I used a funnel to fill the oil. I did have the advantage of having it up on a lift, but don't think it would be that bad on the ground. I previously tried getting to the filter when it was on the ground, but didn't have the filter removal tool then and couldn't loosen the filter.
The point being, are you using the right tools if you think the filter removal is that bad?

Lead Lap
I also change my oil filter, from the top engine compartment that is.
Just use OEM filter and drain the oil first, let car sit for about 20 minutes before you try to tackle the hot exhaust manifold.
I put a rag below the filter before trying to remove it. As soon as the filter comes away from the block, I immediatly turn it upright to prevent further leaks and manouver it through the fan and manifold.
You may want to reposition the horn to face outward vs. into the engine compartment as they come from factory.
I found this on the net... I hear really good things about GREDDY
Doesn't appear to show an application for the RX but worth a phone call.

If you decide to order and install, let everyone know how you made out.
Cheers,

Worth the effort and $ if you are intalling bypass filter. For full flow filter, I would just buy K&N with 1" on-filter nut and a pair of mechanics gloves, should be just fine with OEM location.
