Does anyone know what the exact outputs are from the trailer electrical connector? It is a 7 pin output but I only use 4. I was curious if one of those connectors is for backup lights. I have some backup lights I would like to connect but dont want to have to run a wire to the top of the truck to splice it in. thanks for any help.

mikemar:
The problem is with the burnt light sensor [which monitors expected load based on working lamps] and even with proper breakout, you will not be able to add extra lights [unless you are ok with lit up dash]. Lexus requires an electronic module to isolate the trailor electrical load.
The hitch connector break out is standard and search on the net or visit to U-Haul can get you what you want.

Well according to the standard outputs for the 7 pin connector, the center plug should be backup lights but I get not voltage to that connector when the backup lights are on. Does this mean Lexus does not make that conection? Or is there another wire or fuse I need to add somewhere?

I couldn't find a connector that changed voltage when put in reverse. I was trying to find a wiring diagram that showed the actual wiring so I could check it. I think there is a pigtail somewhere that the tow hitch wiring gets plugged in to but I do not know where that is or have a pin out for that either.

With the isolator module attached, there might not be a backup lamp active.
It's not needed to qualify for the trailer lamps, since most trailers don't have backup lamps. The brakes, flashers, signal and running lamps are required.
