Noises?
Hi,
I have a 2001 RX AWD with 3,300 miles on it. I started to notice 2 noises.
1. Stereo- which is the Premium/Std edition. Seems to be some rattle/vibration coming from drivers side. This is mostly noticible when playing certain tracks such as Claptons," Change the World".
I decided to fade all the sound to the front left side and it seemed to diminish. When I return it to a normal equalization it returns again.
As an fyi, I usually have the bass & tremle settings no higher than 1 when it occurs and the midrange at zero. The volume level is about 4.
I also notice more sound/vibration when outside the car on the drivers side.
My initial guess is the speakers vibrating in the door panel. Does anyone know if the speakers are shielded or have inserts around them?
2. Clatter/vibration- when driving on secondary roads at variouis speeds I have noticed some noise which APPEARS to be coming from the drivers side air vent. These roads are basically the non major routes, city streets etc.
Anyone else have this?
Any Ideas or Input is appreciated before I go in for my 5 K service!

I know that my '99 RX has about 15 Tech Service Bulletins related specifically to noise problems. My dealer has been great about repairing mine under warranty (certified pre-owned), even replacing the glove box!
Your new RX should be rock-solid and rattle-free. Lexus seems to place an emphasis on noise problems, and should alert their service technicians through Tech Service Bulletins.
Good luck!
