Default Yellow "light out" indicator bulb is on, but why?

Hi,

The little yellow "light out" indicator sign on the speedometer cluster came on recently and yet, when I checked all the lights outside the car, they were all fine. The indicator sign comes on when I first put my foot on the brake after starting the engine. It is not a brake light or any of the exterior or interior lights that I can tell. Any ideas.

Also, does anyone know what that annoying "clicking" noise is that comes from behind the glove box and only when you have a/c on? It goes away when you turn up the temperature.

Thanks,

There are two a/c servos behind your dash. You need to replace either one or both.

If you look carefully at the light, there should be 4 brake lights that come on. One of these or 2 are out at the same time. That's why nothing looks wrong. Same thing happen to me.

The same thing with the lights happened to me and I couldn't figure out what light because everything looked normal and lit up........come to finally realize like tammy said, check the upper center light. Here's a link to replacing it.

First of all welcome new member.

My gut feeling was what you are looking for should be in the FAQ. It turns out it has everything but this information. may be Daddy-O can add it.

Call customer service .. number listed in FAQ or sign-up as Lexus owner under lexus.com and initiate a request there.

FAQ and search are best start points. If you can not find info, look for the closest thread or start a new one.

I've had this problem for years on my 1999 RX30 because I can't figure out which bulb is causing this. It only happens when the headlights & markers are on. I have checked the brake lights (including the high mounted one), all side markers, all turn signals, the license plate lights, reverse lights. I thought that maybe it's an obscure light like in the glove compartment, but I couldn't find a light bulb in there. I've replaced all the marker light assemblies (socket, reflector, etc) because some were filled with water or were sun-faded. I welcome any suggestions others may have other than removing the bulb out indicator light.

My experience is that only the failure of major bulbs trigger the indicator. Marker bulbs and the like won't trigger the indicator (discovered earlier this year at state inspection ). Possibilities include bulbs replaced with ones of incorrect wattage and dual filament bulbs with one filament not working. Short-term, bulbs approaching failure have been reported to trigger the indicator light.

Thanks, I'll buy some new bulbs and swap them with my existing and seemingly good bulbs to see if that solves the problem.
