Default Thinking of Michelin LTX M/S tires- input

Was at Sam's club today and noticed they have Michelin LTX M/S in stock 225/70-16

Did not have the Lexus with me and set an appointment for Tuesday to install.

Since I haven't paid for them yet, was wondering on input over the Cross Terrain which they would have to custom order.

The tire guy said the difference in ride is not noticeable between the two.

Anyone ever had LTX M/X on their RX ?
I did a search but did not come up with anything for the LTX tire.

The Michelin LTX is better suited for pickup truck or offroad SUVs. The Cross Terrain is designed for onroad SUVs.

Consumer Reports rated the old LTX in the Nov 2004 issue. It had very good winter traction, but poor dry stopping distance. It has since gone through a redesign, so the above no longer applies.

I have the M/S tires on and will switch them out when they wear out.

They handle well in wet conditions and gravel patches. The only issue I have is with the rolling noise (quiteness). Obviously the noise is a relative statement.

There was someone I met two years ago with a 2001 RX FWD from Florida (I am also from Florida) who worked at the U.S. Embassy who had the LTXs.

He told me he had been using them for about 4 months and said they were much better the Integritys.

I asked him why no CrossTerrains. He said price and also the fact he felt they would be a little more rugged for Mexico City and the CTs. I spoke to him about a year ago and he said they held up just fine.

I have the Yoko's and am very happy with them. A decent value, but are a bit louder than the stock GY's. Much happier that they don't pull like the old GoodYear's did.

Salim,
what were you driving prior to the M/S tire, that you would have as a comparison for noise.

I am currently driving on warnout Michelin Pilot Alpin and don't find them too noisy.

Found this on another website and found the tire ratings are all subjective...

This site rates the LTX better than the CT

I had LTX M/S installed at Costco 2 month ago. I choose LTX mainly for the lower price than the Cross Terrain. Compare to the Integritys which was on the RX previously. Noise and ride is about the same. But the LTX made the car handle much better, steering is more responsive. The RX also seem to coast much longer on the LTX. So I am happy with the LTX.

I would assume since you got them at Costco, that they also filled them with nitrogen.

I got about 60k+ on Goodyear Integrity, which came with the RX. Now have another 50K on the Michillains (sp?). The treads indicate another 20k or life, but the sidewalls have stress marks. The tread pattern on M/S (I assume mud and snow) is more knobby, which produces more rolling noise.

Michellian's wet traction is good with confident stopping. Integrity were getting to be scary near end of their life. Lots of folks have issues with integrity; my view has been they are mediocre tires (tractions), low noise and with good life (wear).
