As I recall, the towing capacity on my 2000 RX300 is listed at 3,750 lbs. I am planning to rent a towable manlift to do some work on my house and it weighs about 5,000 lbs. I would only be towing it a total of about 15 miles on local roadways ( no hills and 35 mph) plus moving it into position around my house. My question is whether I am risking damage to the vehicle based on the aforementioned usage?

My opinion would be yes, it's a risk. Would I do it, if I were you, maybe (but I'm a risk-taker). Is there any tongue-weight? I'm assuming the answer is no.
Certainly, your braking capability would be significantly reduced, if you had to make a quick stop.
