From riding in the RX SS I don't notice much of a difference, but it was short ride. The suspension is a litter more stiff than the regular RX. Turn like an IS, no no, I don't think the GS can turn like an IS

I don't know exactly what they changed in the SS suspension but it does handle better. One test drive and I traded in my 00 RX for a SS. The ride may be a bit firmer, but it is so close it is hard to tell. I mainly notice the better handling and cornering. I never drove an IS but I think you are looking for a bit much, if you want the RX to handle like one.

I recently became aware of the SilverSport RX300, with the "Euro-Tuned" suspension. So, I emailed the parts guy at my local dealership about what it would take to retrofit a 2000 RX300 with the SilverSport (SS) suspension. He replied that Lexus doesn't offer any instructions for retrofitting other RX300s, but based on what he could tell from the parts book, it amounted to SS springs, SS shocks/struts, and a rear sway bar. Price for parts is about $1400, they'd install for about another $900.00, so about $2300 should get you a new SS suspension for your RX300.... And retain the original ride height...

The RX300 SS handles great...not as fluffy as the stock RX's. I seriously doubt it would ever be able to keep up with an IS in terms of handling, but a modded GS will no problem...just ask the guys in the GS forum they'll tell you how they walk all over the IS for breakfast, lunch & dinner...

Default rear sway bar

Does the 2000 RX have a rear sway bar? Can we add the SilverSport one?

I just went and looked and yes it does have a rear sway bar...I have no idea if the dealer could get you one, but I don't see why not.

Default rear sway bar

does anyone know if the regular 2000 RX300 has a rear sway bar?

Is the part number indeed a different b/w regular and SS edition.

I'll pull one off a SilverSport at the junkyard if its true. Where can I check on my 2000, by the exhaust?

Also, according to RX300VA's information, the rear sway bar is different from the regular RX vs. the SS - so there would be a different part number.

Just a quote from Lexus:

With a Silversport grille and an interior trimmed with brushed aluminum and Black perforated leather, Lexus is pleased to provide you with the opportunity to pronounce your active lifestyle. Available with a monotone Black or Silver exterior, the RX 300 Silversport features a Euro-tuned Suspension, silver-finished CrossBars and special Black Pearl badging to distinguish itself from the masses. The Silversport is only available as a 2001 RX 300 model.

I tried to price out the whole change from non SS model to SS and it was just too much. Good luck.

The interior of the SS is sweet...very sporty, especially the brushed aluminum (instead of wood) and perforated leather seating...

I would also highly recommend the group buy going on right now (from Sewell Lexus) on the 4-pc floor mats...I ordered a set of SS mats and they look great!
