Default Suggest where to mount ipod

Which location would you prefer to see ipod mounted in a RX. Give cosideration to cosmetic appeal as well as convinience of use.

1. On Dash (top horizontal surface)
2. On air vent or near air vent. (front vertical dash surface)
3. Around gear shifter
4. In center console.(between seats drawer)

I think center console is best. You don't have to unplug it and hide it when you leave your car, just leave it right there and close the console. That's the way I have mine down. Anyway to possibly hook up a remote control to it? That might be good.

I too have at @ my center console, actually on cigarette ashtray. It fits (Nano) just well there and when I need it, I have easy access. Granted it may not be the best location but it works for me.

I have finally procured plugs to make the set up plug'nplay.

BUT

If the module sits in the center-console then the plugs need to reach the back of the head-unit. That would require routing the cable (+ the plugs 2"x1"). The wire is 1/4" dia and one can cut a hole in the carpet, but the plug-heads would be difficult to route through.

The above means that the plugs should not be soldered to the wire, but that defeats plug'nplay.

What are your thoughts?

If I move the box behind the shift-lever console, then the users will have to route RCA cable form Ipod(aux-device) to the box, but the plugs can be soldered by me and hence the setup would be plug'nplay.
