If the temp is stuck at 74, the problem seems to be at the sensor and less likely with the wire or inidicator. Replace or have it replaced.

The sensor is located underneath the front bumper.

When working properly, I have seen the temp reading can be off +/- 3 degrees F.

What does that sensor look like? I could never find it.

I do notice that the temperature drops after carwash, especially in the summer.

It is a small black sensor just below the front bumper 12" off center toward the driver side. I would first look at it for damage from car wash, road debris, etc. If it looks ok heat it up a little with a blow dryer and see if temp changes. It looks very easy to replace if necessary.

Thanks. I covered the bumper lower opening with a home-made grille (to protect the A/C radiator from road debris.) No wonder that I cannot find it.

That's interesting. I'll have to keep that point in mind. I plan to put an intercooler down there, but I guess what I'll have to do is get one a little smaller width so this sensor can fit in front.

This whole time I was thinkin it was one of those bubbles on the dash by the bottom of the windshield. The location explains why on hot days the temperature is always a little high for me, but on cold days the reading is pretty accurate

Glad it is working.

After the sensor, the connectors/wires would have been the culprit and then it would have been the ECU.
