The battery in my RX300 recently died, so today I removed it and upon inspection of the battery peeled back the "Premium Lexus" battery Logo Sticker only to find a "Premium Toyota" battery Logo sticker right under it! This may not come as a suprise to some but I for one didn't expect the extra cost at the Lexus dealership to be for a sticker!

who makes them for Toyota..
I know that Johnston Controls is a huge manufacturer of oem batteries for highend cars....
Don't know if there in partnership with Toyota tho...
If so, the Interstate Batteries are also made by Johnston Controls and appear to be a perfect fit for the oem Lexus batteries.

I thought Panasonic was the manufacturer.
Back on Lexus/Toyota price difference ....
How about this ...
Walgreens: Two stores in the same city (one in upscale area) charged me differently for the same medicine. When I asked, the asnwer was each store has its own cost and revenue structure. Some say it is free enterprize

Panasonic makes the batteries for new Lexus vehicles made in Japan. The replacement batteries sold by Lexus at US dealerships are in fact a low end Johnson Controls model which is made in Mexico. An excellent alternative to this is the Wal-Mart Maxx (Yellow) which is a high end Johnson Controls battery for only $60, which by the way is also made in Mexico. You could also buy the Die Hard at Sears for $90, however this is simply the same Johnson Controls battery that’s sold by Wal-Mart for $60. All the above prices are for the 24F battery size used on the RX and LS.

The RX300 OEM battery is made by Matsushi-ta Electronics in Japan. (Dash inserted to bypass ClubLexus word filter.)
In the overseas market, the company uses the Panasonic brand name. It's a very good battery I must say.
Unfortunately, none of my local Lexus and Toyota dealer would carry the real OEM battery. They always try to pass Interstate on me.
