Default paint job

I was wondering how much it would cost to paint a gold Lexus RX300 to black?

Down here, my uncle would charge you $800 USD. He painted my lower panels to black for $400 USD. However, the supposedly best place in Mexico City charges double for both jobs. Materials cost a lot here, but labor doesn't

Having grown up in Florida, you probably are looking at something in the range of 1000 USD up to 2500 USD or so on the very high end.

BTW, whereabouts in Florida are you?

That includes the frame. He tapes up the moldings with news paper along with the windows. In my case, the door itself was already black when he did mine. If get over there when he is doing a paint job on a car that requires a paint color switch, will snap a photo.

He also can repair body damage the old way by banging it out and smooth out any minor remaining imperfections with an application of a special paste to the damaged section.

He and I plan to remove my side markers (the orange and red ones) and give it the Euro/Japan look of RXs, in the future.

Note that if you change color, there are lot of places where the new color can not get to (engine bay as an example).

Expect a drop in resale value once you paint it a different color. The perspective buyer just gets paranoid even if the paint job was done well.

I know Georgia requires you to even reregister your car if you get it painted a different color. Why I hae no clue, but that can add to the costs as well.

All of your quotes seem really low. If you took a brand new car and drove it to a decent shop for a re-paint of the same color, a gshop could get your for almost $2,500 in my neck of the woods, and more in many instances. Even the el cheapo places that barely wash your car and give you three color choices with no clear coat get $1,000 if your body is perfect.

Change the color ,then you are talking much more because you have all of those jams and that will not get the engine bay. It will never be right.

Tip: If you want a car to be a particular color, buy it that way.
