I always wondered where they deploy from, anyone got any crash pics or know, I assume they are in the seat somewhere, but its plastic and leather, where could it come out of?

never even knew there were side airbags. what year RX do you have?

2000, I only ask because on Kelly blue book it lists it as a standard feature and the seats do have a SRS logo on them I thought I saw.

From start '99 Rx has side airbags (not the head curtain type). They are located on the seat. Kinda' neat as the bags are always in position as you slide your seat ahead or back. Notice the bulky seat ... ahead of the slot where the seat belt comes out ... that is it.

ah I see the side by the door has plastic seam it must burst out of there. Nice peace of mind knowing we are protected with so many air bags.

The side airbag is built into the front seat back. When it deploys, it simply bursts out of the seams and protect your body. Note that it may not protect the head like a side curtain airbag would.

all airbags come out of "weakend" areas of the dash, steering wheel cover, and leather. Every wondered why the steering wheel cover(horn) doesnt hit your face when it comes out? its cause there is a slit that blows open from the pressure of the gas. Im pretty sure this is how it works on the side of the seats. Its a weakend precut slit in the leather that will break
