We have a 2002 RX300 with 140k miles. All original equipment and my daily driver. Just replaced the struts and the next job is to replace the antenna masks again for the upteen time. Mostly serviced at a Lexus dealership and the timing belt and water pump was replaced at 89k. What I like most about this car is the driver visibility and the AWD as I’ve taken it off road to our cabin and moved most of the furniture in the back. Great for hauling and fun to drive.

Thanks!!
Hi,
I am currently at 219,000 miles on my 2002 Lexus RX 300.. Had to change the coolant sensor as well as rear hatch struts but so far still running great. Love my Lexus!!
2002 RX300 , I bought it 9 years ago from original owner with 18,000 miles, I now have 60,000 , it’s been a great vehicle and I’ve made money with it doing small jobs….
How often are people replacing their struts? Which struts / bushings are best?
If you like you can start a "poll" instead of a message post.
My view is that struts and various bushings like depends upon the driving conditions and temperature swings while in use and parked.
Lower control arm was the only suspension element that needed replacement. around 200k. Most bushings in Lexus are not supplied as replacement and the whole member has to be replaced. Personally I stick to OEM and they may cost more, but I save on labor and also am guaranteed perfect fit as I purchase through online Lexus retailers.
Next option would be purchasing OEM supplier product [like DENSO, stabulis (sp?, AISIN)] but I stay away as I cant predict the authenticity of the part.

I just purchased my first Lexus in January of 2024. A one owner 2000 Lexus RX300 FWD with 65,000 miles. Original owner is 88yrs young lady. The car runs and drives good after I put in about 40 hours of maintenance. Still needs some work, but it's going to make a nice little work horse.
The main issue was the car was rained in and then the windows were rolled up and it had set for about a year. Lots of mold. I had to pull out rear seats and elevate carpet to completely get dry with fans. I scrubbed every square inch of the interior and leather seats, removed about 85 to 90%, the rest would just not come out it is like a stain. I had to pull apart instrument panel and unscrew and re-screw (1/4 turn) all of the instrument panel light bulbs and they all actually came back to working again. The main issue with the check engine light was air fuel sensor. I would suggest going to a salvage yard and buying one of these for around $30. Just make sure they will exchange if the first one doesn't work, versus new one from a dealer for $300. I would not buy aftermarket, you might have trouble. You need a good code reader for diagnosis. I purchased an xtool D7 ($350) in January of 2024. It told me exactly the issue and where it was and allows you to clear the codes.

Purchased this one-owner RX300 last year (2023) and currently has 258K miles. Only have done usual maintenance so far, along with new door actuators (all 4 doors), new remote keys. No CEL or warning lights (except rear brake light, but all the lights are OK). Engine purrs and drives like new!
Right side headlight is fogged up and will need replacing. It was replaced by the previous owner with a cheap aftermarket brand and it can't be cleaned up.
